The Lawrence City Band will soon kick off its summer series of free concerts at South Park.
Each show is open to everyone in the community, and they begin at 8 p.m. every Wednesday near the South Park bandstand in downtown Lawrence.
The first show of the season is set for Wednesday, May 27, with the theme of “South Park Favorites.”
“Bring a lawn chair, a blanket, and a friend to South Park and be a part of a treasured Lawrence summer tradition,” the band’s website states. “We can’t wait to see you!”
Here are the themes for the rest of this year’s shows:
• June 3 – Trails, Travels, and Traditions
• June 10 – American Icons: From Main Street to the Movies
• June 17 – Scenes from Home
• June 24 – The Youngster’s Concert Returns!
• July 1 – Celebrating America’s Semiquincentennial
• July 8 – Americana
• July 15 – Across the Pond and Back Again
