Streamline Coffee will permanently close its doors in downtown Lawrence on Tuesday, and a new Tex-Mex restaurant has opened across town.
The shop’s final day of business is Tuesday, with hours until 2 p.m. Streamline shared the news in a text message to customers Monday and later on social media.
“We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve this community and be a small part of your day,” the statement read. “The friendships, conversations, and support you’ve shown us have meant more than we can express.”
The closure comes shortly after Streamline closed its airstream trailer in January. The trailer had opened in fall of 2023, and the downtown store, sandwiched between Grounded Coffee and Richard’s Music Co. at 13 E. Eighth St., opened in spring of 2025.

Owner Katie Hoke previously said that they loved their trailer but wanted to put more effort into the downtown location.

“It’s kind of a sad situation,” said Ashley Coller, a manager at Streamline Coffee. “There’s a lot of love that a lot of people have put into Streamline, but sadly we just never took off the way we wanted to.”
Coller said staff were informed of the closure Monday, calling the news startling.
Despite the abrupt ending, Coller said the experience left a lasting impact.
“The fun that we’ve had along the way cannot be replaced,” Coller said. “The people we’ve gotten to meet have been wonderful, and Mass Street has been very kind to us.”
Coller said there is no plan to reopen the brick and mortar store or the mobile airstream.
Hoke did not respond to requests for comment before publication.
