Lawrence community members showed up to celebrate soccer and cheer on Team Algeria in their first World Cup match Tuesday evening during the first of three planned street parties.
Team Algeria, which has its base camp in Lawrence, ultimately fell 3-0 to Argentina, the defending World Cup champions.
Algeria will have two more group stage matches: Monday, June 22, against Jordan, in San Francisco; and Saturday, June 27, against Austria, in Kansas City.
Score Lawrence is planning community street parties and watch parties for both games. Find more info about those and other associated events that are ongoing and upcoming in the article at this link.
