Team Algeria tied Austria 3-3 Saturday night, and Lawrence’s newest home team will advance to the round of 32 in the World Cup.
Algeria, which has its base camp in Lawrence, will face Switzerland on Thursday, July 2 in Vancouver.
Emotions ran high for fans filling Mass Street for the watch party.
