Extension Master Food Volunteers host regular sessions to help folks apply for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), including three scheduled events in July.

Here are the set times:

• 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16 at Just Food, 1000 E. 11th St.
• 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 21 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1011 Vermont St.
• 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 22 at Heartland Community Health Center, 1312 W. Sixth St.

K-State Extension — Douglas County’s Master Food Volunteers offer regular SNAP application help. They host events the fourth Wednesdays of every month, or people can schedule appointments. Learn how to do that and find additional resources at this link.

More summer food support

According to the K-State Extension program, folks can use their SNAP benefits for matching dollars with Double Up Heartland. That works for up to $25 each day.

In addition to participating in Double Up Heartland, the Lawrence Farmers Market also runs a Double Up Protein Bucks program that matches up to $25 each week.

Lawrence Public Schools is running a free meals and meal kits program for all kids in the community over the summer. People can also apply for summer EBT, or SUN Bucks, until 5 p.m. Aug. 31. Find out more here.
