It’s that time of year again: KU and Haskell students will soon arrive en masse in Lawrence. That means traffic is going to be heavy in a few areas around town.
Here are some of the key dates and locations to know.
Jayhawks incoming
Some folks will start moving in Tuesday, Aug. 18 and Wednesday, Aug. 19.
Traffic around Daisy Hill is expected to be heaviest from about 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 20 and 21, according to a KU news release.

The most frequented routes will be along Bob Billings Parkway/15th Street; Clinton Parkway/West 23rd Street; Naismith Drive north of 19th Street; and 11th, 14th and 19th streets between Massachusetts and Iowa streets, according to KU.
Crestline and Becker drives, Constant Avenue and Irving Hill Road in KU’s west campus district, as well as the Lied Center parking lot, are also along move-in routes.
Here’s a handy map from KU showing the residence hall locations, where traffic will likely be the most dense. Students will move into many of the scholarship halls, indicated with yellow markers, on Wednesday. They’ll move into most of the halls indicated with red markers on Thursday and Friday.
“Maps of each area, which were emailed to incoming residents and their families, can be found at the KU Housing & Residence Life website,” according to KU.

Move-in time at Haskell
Haskell has a full week of orientation activities planned for new and transfer students, but Move-In Day is Monday, Aug. 24, starting at 8 a.m.
