Lawrence community members can weigh in on priorities as part of the city’s Vision 2030 strategic planning process, now via an online survey.
The Vision 2030 Community Survey asks residents, workers, business owners and others who spend time in the city to consider what Lawrence should look like in 2030, what the city should protect or improve and how success should be measured.
The survey, which is expected to take about 10 minutes, is open at this link until 11:59 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7.
Vision 2030 is the city’s effort to update its strategic plan, the framework that guides community outcomes, organizational commitments and performance measures over the next five years. City officials expect community input gathered through the survey, focus groups, stakeholder conversations and outreach by trained community listeners to help shape a plan for City Commission adoption later this year.
Unlike the city’s Community Satisfaction Survey earlier this year, which used largely multiple-choice questions to assess satisfaction in areas such as safety, mobility, the economy and local government, the Vision 2030 survey is designed to collect open-ended responses about resident priorities and desires for the city.
The city says responses will be anonymous and compiled by Raftelis, the city’s strategic planning partner. Optional demographic questions at the end of the survey are intended to help determine whether the responses reflect the broader Lawrence community.
The city has also offered engagement kits to neighborhoods, workplaces, organizations and other groups interested in hosting their own Vision 2030 conversations. The kits include facilitation materials and a way to return collected feedback to the project team. The survey and additional information about Vision 2030 are available through the city’s Engage Lawrence page. City staff members and community listeners have also been gathering input at community events this summer.
