The small parking lot on the south side of the historic Douglas County Courthouse will close for a construction project that will nearly double its capacity.
The project is set to begin Tuesday, Sept. 1 and will increase the number of spaces in the lot from 20 to 36, according to the county’s latest newsletter. Work is expected to continue through the end of November.
The closure comes amid ongoing construction near the historic courthouse and the Judicial and Law Enforcement Center, or JLEC.
Also on Tuesday, 18 additional spaces will reopen in the lot south of the JLEC.
The county did not provide further details about the construction timeline, access routes or whether parking arrangements for courthouse visitors will otherwise change.
