Traffic is about to get heavy (or heavier) in Lawrence as a flock of Jayhawks will soon move into KU’s dorms.
Some folks have already started moving in over the past few days, but traffic will be worst around Daisy Hill from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Aug. 14 and 15.
“The busiest intersections will likely be 15th and Iowa streets, Clinton Parkway and Crestline Drive, and 23rd Street and Naismith Drive,” according to a KU news release.
“Due to ongoing road construction and road closures on Iowa and 19th streets, residents moving in have been given alternative driving routes. Closures impacting travel include both the east and west sides of 19th Street at Iowa Street and 19th Street between Kentucky and Massachusetts streets.” And between Haskell Avenue and Harper Street.
There will also be extra traffic around 11th and Louisiana streets, and on 19th Street at Ousdahl Road and at Ellis Drive.
Here’s a handy map from KU showing the residence hall locations, where traffic will likely be the most dense:
Much more details for those who are moving are available on KU’s website at housing.ku.edu/move.
Classes begin on Monday, Aug. 18 at KU. See the full academic calendar at this link.
