Military aircraft will fly over Lawrence and a road near the stadium will be closed for the KU football game against the University of Cincinnati on Saturday.

A team of four T-38 Talons will fly a practice run over the football stadium between 11:30 a.m. and noon Friday, Sept. 26, according to a news release from KU.

They’ll fly over the stadium again around 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, ahead of the 11 a.m. kickoff time. The flyovers will conducted by the 435th Fighter Training Squadron out of San Antonio, according to the release.

In addition, Fambrough Drive/11th Street will close between Maine and Illinois streets to protect pedestrians and allow traffic to exit the KU football stadium before and after home games this fall.

The closures will begin five hours prior to kickoff and end 45 minutes after the end of the game, according to the city.

Upcoming kickoff times for home games that have been set thus far are Saturday’s 11 a.m. kickoff against the Cincinnati Bearcats and 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, facing Utah.

Other home games include the Sunflower Showdown vs. K-State on Saturday, Oct. 25, and the Saturday, Nov. 1 game against Oklahoma State. Kickoff times are still TBD; keep an eye on the team’s schedule at this link.

Lawrence Transit buses will also pick up stadiumgoers at the bus stop across the street from the Lawrence Public Library parking garage in the 700 block of Vermont Street and shuttle them to and from the stadium before and after games; read more about that at this link.

The Jayhawks are 3-1 so far this season. They beat West Virginia 41-10 in the Saturday, Sept. 20 game.
