Lawrence Transit will cancel its on demand service for the weekend and all service on Saturday as the area is expected to get several inches of snow coupled with bitter cold temperatures.
On demand service will be canceled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 23-25, according to an announcement from the city.
Bus routes 1-44 are expected to run as scheduled Friday, but Lawrence Transit will share updates as needed.
All transit service will be canceled Saturday, Jan. 24.
Service is expected to resume as usual Monday, Jan. 26.
“A late start may be necessary if temperatures drop below the current forecast. Extremely low temperatures can cause operational issues with our diesel and electric fleets,” according to the announcement.
People can download the Lawrence Transit app in the App Store or on Google Play to check where their buses are.

City of Lawrence snow info:
• The city has snow information and a map at lawrenceks.org/snow that shows information about road conditions and where snowplows have been. The city typically begins snow and ice control for residential roadways when 2 or more inches of snowfall or icing occurs.
Highway conditions beyond Lawrence:
• KanDrive, an app and website from the Kansas Department of Transportation, has info on highway conditions statewide. KanDrive is available online at KanDrive.gov, and its app is available for download free on the App Store and Google Play.
