Today, on Sept. 15, the Haus of McCoy is doing a social media awareness campaign to support queer and trans youth, and to connect folks to the new QTPOC+ youth center that is centering queer and trans high school and middle school students.

Later this week, on Thursday, Sept. 16, Haus of McCoy is having their first Open Haus from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at 1046 New Hampshire St. At the Open Haus, there will be free food, a book giveaway for the Haus of McCoy’s Book Club and our special guest, Silky Nutmeg Ganache, from RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 6.

The book, “The Belly of the Beast” by Da’Shaun Harrison, does a deep dive into anti-Blackness, queerness, transphobia and fatphobia. It will serve as an opportunity for queer and trans youth to expand their personal politics and connect with others in the community.

An online conversation with the author is happening in October, and it will be the first programming event for the Haus of McCoy.
