Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Lucille Bailey, 95, Mesa, Arizona (formerly from Lawrence, KS) will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 30, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lawrence. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Mary died December 14, 2021 in Mesa, Arizona.
Mary was born December 12, 1926 in Lawrence, KS the daughter of Chester Arthur Connett and Bertha Allen Newman.
She worked at Weaver’s for many years while living in Lawrence. She and her husband Delbert, moved to Arizona in 1988, where she continued to work in retail. She was a member of St. John’s Daughter’s of Isabella. She enjoyed making and selling crafts at local craft fairs.
She married Delbert M. Bailey on April 20, 1946 in Lawrence, KS. He preceded her in death on June 21, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her grandson, Evan Lee Bailey, by her siblings, John Connett, James Connett, Madelyn Norris, Norma Gunn, Ellen Haller.
She is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Sue (William) buck of Donetta, Florida, Carolyn Ann Allen, Lawrence, KS, Deborah Marie (Mark) Cole; Chandler AZ; two grandchildren, Stacy Marie Buck, Brian D. Bailey; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain, 120 W. 13th street, Lawrence, KS 66044
