Ryan has worked in the district since 2008, according to the release.

“I am excited about this opportunity to provide the best educational experiences for our students by hiring and retaining high-quality staff,” Ryan said in the release.

“My roles as a learning coach, middle school principal, and director of elementary schools have enabled me to work directly with principals, staff, and school families and truly understand the needs of the district. While we certainly are facing challenges, my focus is on the importance of climate and culture and making our district a model of success.”

The position change is pending school board approval.

The former executive director of HR, Samrie Devin, resigned effective March 1 to take a job as associate superintendent of human resources in Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools.

The district is evaluating administrative positions as part of the school board’s budget planning process, according to the news release. The director of secondary schools, Rick Henry, will be retiring at the end of June.
