Douglas County commissioners will meet at the Judicial and Law Enforcement Center this week, following water damage at the historic county courthouse.
A work session on the Douglas County Early Childhood Community Center will start at 4 p.m. in the Division 4 courtroom. The regular business meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. in the Division 2 courtroom.
The JLEC is the building directly to the west of the historic courthouse, at 111 E. 11th St. The meetings will also be available via Zoom; join the meeting virtually via this link.
Douglas County Administrator Sarah Plinsky told commissioners during their meeting last week that “we had a contractor working on our fire suppression system, and the sprinkler system inadvertently burst a pipe, and we’ve had pretty substantial water damage.”
The county commission meeting room, treasurer’s office and appraiser’s office all sustained damage, Karrey Britt, a spokesperson for the county said via email last week. She said Monday morning that no damage estimates were available yet.
