Student found dead in KU dorm

A University of Kansas student was found deceased in his dorm at Lewis Residence Hall Monday, according to the KU Public Safety Office.

Officers were dispatched to the residence hall, at 1530 Engel Road, Monday afternoon, according to a brief news release. A family member of the student had called to request a welfare check, Deputy Chief James Druen said via email.

The cause of death is under investigation, and no foul play is suspected, according to the release.

“Out of respect for the family, we will not be releasing the name of the student,” according to the release.
