Business owner and former city commissioner Michael Dever has far outraised the other Lawrence City Commission primary candidates, finance reports show.
Just days remain until the Tuesday, Aug. 1 Lawrence City Commission primary election in which the field of eight candidates will be narrowed to six. Those six will face off in the Nov. 7 general election, when voters will decide who will fill three seats that are on the ballot.
Five candidates — Dever, incumbent Brad Finkeldei, Chris Flowers, incumbent Amber Sellers and incumbent Courtney Shipley — filed campaign finance reports with the Douglas County clerk’s office this week. Candidate Dustin Stumblingbear filed an affidavit of exemption, indicating that he does not plan to collect or spend more than $1,000 in the race.
The clerk’s office did not receive finance reports or affidavits of exemption from candidates Justine Burton and Joshua Olafson.
