Young creatives come together to sell art, jewelry and baked goods at Lit & Local

Young local artists, performers and entrepreneurs showcased their talents and creativity during a vending event and open mic for youth ages 12 to 18 Sunday afternoon.

Lit & Local, hosted by the Sunrise Project, serves as a way to uplift Lawrence and Douglas County young people and celebrate their creativity. The event originated in 2018 with the help of local R&B artist, Shah.

9 Mile Mercantile had baked goods and art available for purchase during the Lit & Local Youth Makers festival Sunday at Cider Gallery.
Several teens worked on beading and crocheting between customers.
Teenage musicians participated in the open mic opportunity during Lit & Local.
Cayg, Crest and Alex, all 16, had paintings, jewelry and crocheted items for sale.
