Lawrence Public Schools middle school student musicians who play trombone, baritone and tuba will join with KU brass to perform a “Brassmas” holiday concert.
The performance will include students who play low brass instruments in all four of the district middle schools, and the KU Tuba, Euphonium and Trombone Ensembles.
Deborah Woodall-Routledge, Southwest Middle School band director, said via email from a district spokesperson that organizers hope to make it an annual collaboration, and to add high school brass musicians to the group in the future.
The first-of-its-kind concert is set for noon Thursday, Dec. 14 at the Lied Center, 1600 Stewart Drive. It is free to attend and open to the public.
