Lawrence man, 31, shot and killed in Topeka

A Lawrence man was killed in an overnight shooting Saturday in Topeka, according to police.

Officers were dispatched around midnight Saturday to a shooting in the 2900 block of Sotuhwest Topeka Boulevard, according to a news release from the Topeka Police Department.

“Upon arrival, officers located one individual suffering from a gunshot wound. This individual was pronounced deceased at the scene,” according to the release.

Police identified Earon Cooper, 31, of Lawrence, as the person killed.

The investigation was ongoing as of just before noon Saturday.

Police had not yet responded at the time of publication to an email asking whether any arrests had been made.
