Crews continue to make headway on Ninth Street construction. Meanwhile, people in Lawrence should expect closures on Alabama and on West 23rd streets.
Here’s a roundup of traffic updates from the City of Lawrence. Project completion dates are dependent on weather or other delays.

Crews also adjusted vehicle detection equipment to make traffic signals more efficient, according to the release.
“Green pavement markings for the bike lanes and new crosswalk markings at Tennessee Street are expected later in October,” according to the release.
Crews will install Tennessee Street crosswalk markings once they finish asphalt work north of Ninth Street.

Closure on Alabama Street
City contractors will close Alabama Street at West 27th Street Monday, Oct. 12 to work on the south side of the intersection. The work fits into this year’s street maintenance program.
Contractors will ensure local residential access by keeping the westbound lane of traffic through the intersection of West 27th and Alabama streets open at all times.
The city expects the work to be done by Friday, Oct. 30.
Closure on West 23rd Street
Google Fiber contractors will close the outside westbound lane of West 23rd Street between Louisiana Street and Naismith Drive starting Monday, Oct. 12, to install fiber.
The city expects the work to be done by Friday, Oct. 16.
