The Lawrence Public Library will celebrate 10 years in its renovated building as part of its annual summer reading Last Bash on Friday.
The party will start at 5 p.m. Friday, July 26 in the library lobby and auditorium with music from No Bow Tie and Chris Luxem & Nathan Dixey, followed by a dance performance by Dance Hues Studio and an aerial arts show by The Last Carnival, according to the library’s event page.
Outside, starting at 7 p.m., there will be food trucks, mini golf and games on the lawn, beer from Free State Brewery, free ice pops, Ad Astra Photo Booth and a big band performance from the Jazzhawks.
The Kids’ Action Club is holding a silent art auction that will close at 7:30 p.m. Club members will also be selling donuts to raise money for Just Food.
The library celebrated what would be later be named an award-winning renovation with a grand opening on July 26, 2014.
In a nod to the 2014 grand opening party, where attendees watched the original “Ghostbusters,” the library will be showing “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” starting at 9 p.m.-ish on the library lawn, according to the event page. The library encourages folks to bring picnic blankets or camping chairs for the screening, and there will be free popcorn.
The celebration is free to attend, and all are welcome.
