The interim superintendent of Lawrence Public Schools has announced dates for her fall community engagement tour to find out what school families want for the future of their children.

Interim Superintendent Jeanice Swift has said she wants to engage with the community, and the district on Wednesday announced a series of meetings with that goal.

The district wants to hear from families what areas the district is doing well and what it should continue to strengthen; where there are opportunities for improvement; and what families see as the top priorities this year, according to the announcement.

“We will use what we learn to inform and align our work with the voices, needs, and direction of our community,” according to the announcement. “High-quality public schools are an outcome of engaged, caring communities.”

An online survey will be available as well but was not yet as of Wednesday afternoon.

Here are the set meeting dates thus far:

• 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 at Billy Mills Middle School, 2734 Louisiana St., co-hosted by the Lawrence Special Education Advisory Council (L-SEAC)

• 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Liberty Memorial Central Middle School, 1400 Massachusetts St.

• 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, Brown Bag Lunch at Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St.

• 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 at Southwest Middle School, 2511 Inverness Drive

• 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19 at West Middle School, 2700 Harvard Road

Groups that are interested in hosting a community conversation can fill out the form at this link.

“We will accommodate as many groups as possible,” according to the announcement. “If we cannot accommodate your group, please invite your members to attend one of our scheduled Community Conversations and share their input via our Community Survey.”
