UPDATE, 8:39 a.m. Friday, June 25: This event has been postponed until July 30 because of anticipated bad weather Friday, the city of Lawrence tweeted. The event will start at the same time — 5:30 p.m. — on Friday, July 30.

If you’ve been curious about a shiny new twisty metal structure that has appeared near the northwest corner of Eighth and Vermont streets recently, tomorrow is your chance to ask questions about it.
Jacob Burmood, the artist who created “Paradoxical Synapse,” will be in attendance for a Final Friday public unveiling of the piece — which has actually been on display since late February.
The sculpture “represents synapse between two neurons,” Burmood wrote on Instagram.
Burmood is a University of Kansas alumnus who works out of Kansas City, Missouri, according to the Facebook event page from the City of Lawrence. He’ll be present to speak and answer questions at the unveiling, set for 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Friday (June 25).
“The sculpture pays homage to the unique history of the building and the relationship it now holds for Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical and the Senior Resource Center for Douglas County,” the event page says.
The sculpture is part of the city’s public art program, which is coordinated by the Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission, according to the event page.
