Due to winter conditions Wednesday, Douglas County and the Kansas Land Trust have postponed the first public informational meeting about a new land protection pilot program.
The county is collaborating with the nonprofit organization to incentivize private landowners to participate in agreements to preserve their land for the public’s benefit.
Wednesday’s meeting in Lawrence was set to be the first of three but has been rescheduled to the following Wednesday, according to a Kansas Land Trust Facebook post.
The other two have not changed, and the revised schedule includes:
• 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14 at Lecompton Community Building, 333 Elmore St. in Lecompton;
• 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St.; and
• 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 at Lone Star Lake Community Building, 665 East 665 Road in Lawrence.
