Many residential roads aren’t yet cleared as Lawrence recovers from the weekend’s blizzard, and bitter temperatures are forecast the remainder of the week. Here are answers to a few FAQs as cleanup efforts continue.

The Lawrence Public Library will close early — at 5 p.m. — Tuesday as extreme cold persists and roads are still in rough shape. We’ll post closures and service changes at this link as we receive them.

Lawrence Public Schools will be closed for the weather again Tuesday amid extreme cold that followed a blizzard.
After all highways in northeastern Kansas were closed Sunday in response to the blizzard, state roads and highways are beginning to reopen. Lawrence streets may still be difficult to navigate, according to police.

The National Weather Service in Topeka received several reports of snow totals in Lawrence following Sunday’s blizzard. The highest was a total of about 11.5 inches.
Winter flocks are in full swing as juncos, cardinals, woodpeckers, bluejays, titmouse and even crows come together with the collective goal of getting enough food and avoiding predators.
Lawrence community members — including Alfred the cat — had some fun playing in the snow Sunday.
