Man found guilty in robbery of Truity Credit Union in Lawrence
A Kansas City man was found guilty of one count of bank robbery and one count of use of a firearm “in furtherance of a crime of violence” in a Lawrence robbery, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s office.

Driver killed in head-on crash was Lawrence man, 64

A driver was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead following a head-on crash in the 800 block of North 1800 Road just after 6 p.m. Friday, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

People in Douglas County now have the ability to text 911 in situations where they are unable to safely call, the sheriff’s office announced Friday.
