Douglas County commissioners declared a state of local disaster emergency for the county because of two large grass fires that were under control as of 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

As part of Severe Weather Preparedness Month, Douglas County Emergency Management will host a severe weather training session on March 13. It’s free and open to the public.
No damage has been reported to Douglas County Emergency Management after an EF1 tornado nearby early Tuesday, though two people were injured and there was some damage to the southwest of the county.
Douglas County community members can learn about severe storms and how to best prepare for them during an upcoming presentation.
