Ninth Street is currently blocked to all through traffic from Louisiana to Indiana Streets, and the City of Lawrence plans to extend the closure west toward Mississippi Street starting next week.

Although some major construction projects in Lawrence are ongoing and will be for months to come, two key streets are close to reopening.
Lawrence motorists may have noticed four open lanes on Iowa Street Thursday after almost a year of construction work. There are still a few finishing touches to be made, but the city will fully open the street next week.

Lawrence City Commissioners on Tuesday approved a $4.82M increase to the budget and change in construction plans that will lead to a portion of Ninth Street being closed through the summer.
Starting Monday, a construction project will reduce traffic on Bob Billings Parkway to one lane in each direction between Monterey Way and Kasold Drive. The city expects the work to take a year.
