The Lawrence and Douglas County area could see a few inches of snow accumulation Saturday into Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
The Lawrence area could see freezing temperatures, rain and sleet over the weekend. The city’s recreation centers are available to warm up during regular hours.
Douglas County has seen a few inches of rain and could see more ahead of much cooler temperatures and a hard freeze expected over the weekend and into Monday.

Lawrence currently has unhealthy air quality because of wildfires more than 1,000 miles away.
The city will not collect yard waste and all outdoor Parks and Recreation department sports are canceled through Thursday because of the extreme heat, which has brought heat indices as high as 136° in Lawrence.
Lawrence is expected to be dangerously hot over the next several days, according to the National Weather Service.
