The Lawrence school district will have no school Tuesday because of winter storm conditions. Here’s a list of closures and cancelations.
Rain in Lawrence Monday morning turned to snow as it got colder outside, and a winter storm warning is in effect until noon Tuesday. Bitter cold temperatures are in the forecast later this week.
Lawrence and the surrounding areas could see heavy snow Sunday evening through Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka.
There were slightly fewer tornadoes reported in Kansas and only one tornado watch issued for the central portion of the state in 2023.
Although temperatures are expected to be above freezing during the day Monday in Lawrence, the area may see some rain and snow.
The Lawrence and Douglas County area could see a few inches of snow accumulation Saturday into Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
The Lawrence area could see freezing temperatures, rain and sleet over the weekend. The city’s recreation centers are available to warm up during regular hours.
Douglas County has seen a few inches of rain and could see more ahead of much cooler temperatures and a hard freeze expected over the weekend and into Monday.
