School will be canceled for Lawrence Public Schools Tuesday amid more dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills, plus a new layer of snow.

All buildings districtwide will be closed, and school activities are canceled.

“We apologize for the multiple school closures, understanding the burden they place on working families,” Julie Boyle, a spokesperson for the district, said in an email to school families.

“These decisions have been made in the interest of the safety of students and staff. Extremely low temperatures and wind chills affect the operation of buses and our ability to heat buildings to a comfortable level,” Boyle’s email continued. “We certainly don’t want any students out in the weather that is expected tomorrow morning.”
