As Black high school students’ enrollment in Advanced Placement courses is expected to drop by 26% this fall, most of their peers will increase their AP enrollment by 21% to 41%. The disparity raises questions about whether or not all students feel empowered to take these college-level courses.

The sun set Friday evening on the high school careers of 375 Lawrence High Chesty Lions as family members, friends and faculty filled the outdoor stadium to celebrate the class of 2022’s accomplishments.
Lawrence High School’s commencement has been rescheduled to 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 27, according to an announcement from the school district.
