Lawrence PRIDE, which recently expanded to become a nonprofit, hosted its Queer Prom Friday evening — ”the prom we always wanted and never got to have,” one event organizer said.
Lawrence PRIDE has expanded to become a nonprofit, which will allow the organization to use additional funding resources and host more community events with the goal of providing everyone with a safe and welcoming space.
It was a hot, sunny day at South Park, but that didn’t stop hundreds of people from showing up for Lawrence PRIDE. Many attendees told the Times they were there to show love and support — including giving free hugs.
With the return of Lawrence PRIDE, MsAmanda Love is excited to feel the love of the community that followed the parade down Massachusetts Street each year, prior to the pandemic.
