Photos: Parts of Lawrence flooded after downpour

It rained in Lawrence Wednesday — and then it rained some more. Really quickly.

Suddenly in the afternoon, the underpass in North Lawrence was flooded and impassible.

According to calls that started coming across the scanner, at one point two cars were floating in the 1000 block of North Third Street; another car was stuck in flood waters near Sixth and Tennessee streets.

Sophie Tate, of Lawrence, rode her bike out to get some photos and submitted them to the Times.
