Anthony Harvey Jr. and Ja’Darius Woods have partnered up again for the second annual Kicks 4 Kids shoe drive, coming up this Sunday.

Last summer, the Lawrence duo distributed more than 300 pairs of shoes to kids in the community. They hope to do the same this year. They also raised more than $2,000 to donate to the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence.

This year, donations from the event will go to support the Lawrence Public Schools’ IPS program (short for interpersonal and communication skills) and Unified Sports. The program earned Lawrence High School the honor of being named a Special Olympics National Banner Unified Champion School in 2020.

Folks wanting to donate to the shoe drive can reach Harvey via his Instagram, @homeboyharv, or Woods on his, @hollywoodwoods1. They’re accepting new and gently used shoes of all sizes and for all genders, so kids and teens up to age 19 will be able to benefit.

They’re taking donations through Saturday. They can accept shoe donations the day of the event but ask that those wanting to donate please come early, Harvey said.

Any kids who need shoes can stop by from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, Aug. 15 at Holcom Park, 2700 W. 27th St., at the cabana off of Lawrence Avenue, Harvey said. No signup is necessary.
