The victim arrived at Lawrence Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound around 3:20 p.m. Friday, Lt. David Ernst said via email.

“Officers and investigators are currently on scene and working on determining the location of the shooting and the circumstances surrounding the incident,” Ernst said.

The hospital was placed on lockdown for about 30 minutes in an abundance of caution “and due to the circumstances related to impending arrival of a patient,” spokesperson Rebecca Smith said via email Friday.

“There is no immediate security risk, and the lockdown was discontinued once we received the all-clear from the Lawrence Police Department,” Smith said.

The person’s injury does not appear to be life-threatening, Ernst said.
