Deputies were dispatched around 3:15 a.m. Saturday. Scanner traffic indicated that multiple callers had reported a shooting at The Outhouse, 1837 North 1500 Road. It’s about three-quarters of a mile east of 15th Street and Noria Road.

“According to a preliminary investigation, after an altercation in the parking lot a man was shot, suffered injuries and was taken to an area hospital by a private vehicle,” George Diepenbrock, spokesperson for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, said via email.

It was not immediately clear how severe the man’s injuries were.

Around 3:30 a.m., officers were in pursuit of a suspect or suspects in south-central Lawrence, scanner traffic indicated.

“Officers with the Lawrence Police Department later recovered what is believed to be the suspect’s vehicle. The Eudora Police Department also assisted with the response,” Diepenbrock said.

“The suspect is still at large, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with potential information about the incident is asked to call the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, 758-843-0250,” Diepenbrock said.

There was a report of gunshots heard in the 300 block of Alabama Street around 3:35 a.m., but a first responder nearby at the hospital said over the scanner that he did not hear anything.
