Massachusetts Street will come to life Saturday with a party ahead of the Kansas Jayhawks facing the Villanova Wildcats in the Final Four.
But as the road was closed in preparation Saturday morning, the street was almost empty. Any remaining vehicles had been “courtesy towed,” and city workers prepared barriers to block vehicles from entering the road.
Tipoff time is 5:09 p.m. There will be sidewalk sales, buskers, live music, giveaways and more from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Not with a bang but a whimper: Lawrence drone show never takes off
With storms in the forecast again, one might have thought the weather would be the biggest concern for the drone show planned for Lawrence’s Summerfest. Rather, apparent network issues rained on the crowd’s parade as the dozens of tiny flying machines never took to the sky.
