According to the Sustainability Action Network, electric vehicles are one of the most effective ways to reduce petroleum use and climate heating emissions. This event will close out National Drive Electric Week, which is Sept. 23 through Oct. 2.

“So far there are 22 electric cars coming including a Lucid Air, lots of electric bicycles from three bicycle shops, a Ford F-150 Lightning pickup, a Rivian pickup, and a brand new Lawrence Transit battery-electric bus made by Gillig,” according to information on the event website.

The Lawrence Electric Vehicle Showcase is slated for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2 on the northeast side of South Park. It’s a rain-or-shine event. Learn more and see a list of vehicles that are expected to be there at this link.

Local sponsors of the event include Sustainability Action Network, City of Lawrence, Sustainability Science Fair, Laird Noller Dealerships, Evergy Clean Charge Network, Cycle Works, Sunflower Outdoor and Bike Shop, and Trek Bicycle Lawrence. National sponsors include Nissan, Plug In America, the national Sierra Club, the Electric Auto Association, Wells Fargo, Edison International, and EV Hybridnoire.
