Reader Carole Tomlinson snapped this photo of the edge of a cold front northwest of North Lawrence Thursday afternoon.

“It looked like a mountain range, so solid looking,” she said.

Fortunately, despite the clouds, the National Weather Service forecast showed as of Thursday night that temperatures over the weekend will be nothing like last week’s dangerous cold.

Lawrence will likely see mostly sunny skies with highs ranging between 46° and 57° Friday through Sunday, according to the NWS. Monday’s forecast shows a 70% chance of rain with a high of 57°.
