First responders were dispatched to the intersection of Sixth and Iowa streets at 1:52 a.m. Monday, according to the PulsePoint app. They found two vehicles, each with a single occupant, involved in the crash.

“LKPD officers performed chest compressions on one of the victims while pinned inside the vehicle, but paramedics later pronounced the driver dead on the scene,” according to LPD.

First responders at the scene said extrication was needed for a patient who suffered injuries that were believed to be serious, according to scanner traffic. That driver was pinned in the car, but first responders were able to get the driver out and transported, according to LPD.

“Officers with our Accident Investigation Unit will review evidence and witness statements, as we work to notify families,” according to LPD.
