Douglas County District Court Chief Judge James McCabria on Thursday unveiled the local bar association’s new composite photo, featuring the faces of several dozen members.

Those in attendance said the new composites are created once a decade, presumably on the 3s because the Douglas County Bar Association formally organized in 1983.

Though two of the older composite photos from over the decades hang in the hallway on the main floor of the Judicial and Law Enforcement Center, two others do not. Some attendees suggested those should make a comeback.

The association is “a nonprofit corporation whose members are lawyers residing in Douglas County, Kansas,” according to its website, dgcoksbar.org. “The association provides opportunities for its members to exchange ideas and share information about the practice of law, to encourage professionalism, integrity and courtesy among its members, and to exhibit responsibility and leadership in the community.”

Karen Ebmeier was recently elected president, Meryl Carver-Allmond vice president, and Rob Bruer secretary-treasurer.

Lawrence photographer Susan Wolfe shot the photos and created the composite. See more of her work at shirkwolfe.com.
