Two people were injured, one critically, in a single-vehicle crash in northwestern Douglas County early Saturday, according to a news release from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
A 30-year-old woman from Shawnee was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer westbound on North 1600 Road at 3:40 a.m. when she lost control of the vehicle, according to a DGSO news release.
The vehicle left the road to the north near East 476 Road and crashed into a ditch, according to the release.
The driver suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, and the passenger, a 29-year-old woman from Wichita, suffered critical injuries, according to the release. Both were taken to a Topeka-area hospital.
“At this time, it did not appear either person wore a seat belt,” according to the release. “Deputies are investigating potential causes of the crash.”
