Lawrence city commissioners will meet Tuesday for a special informational meeting focused on the Municipal Services and Operations campus and the Lawrence airport.
The commission currently meets on the first three Tuesdays of each month, and it has since 2016 when the change to three monthly meetings from four was made under then-city manager Tom Markus.
New City Manager Majed Al-Ghafry posed the idea of meeting on the fourth Tuesday of the month for information-only meetings to help inform both the commissioners and the public about various topics.
Tuesday’s special meeting will focus on the MSO campus, which is under construction on the eastern edge of town, as well as the Lawrence Regional Airport, according to the agenda. There were no reports with further information about either item attached to the agenda as of Monday morning.
There are no items on Tuesday’s short agenda that require the commission to vote or otherwise take any binding action. The meeting will not have public comment, either.
The meeting is set for 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25 at City Hall, 6 E. Sixth St. See the agenda at this link.
City Commission meetings are no longer livestreamed on YouTube. In order to watch the meeting online remotely, attendees must join via Zoom at this link. Meeting recordings are uploaded to the city’s YouTube channel the next day.
