The musical Lions of Lawrence High School will sing and dance to hits spanning decades during their annual “Showtime” performance.
Songs featured in this year’s show include a range from duets by Simon & Garfunkel and Frank and Nancy Sinatra to numbers from “Hair” and “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” hits from Elvis Presley, Taylor Swift and Dolly Parton, and much more.
This will be the last “Showtime” for choir director Dwayne Dunn, who is retiring at the end of the year after holding the position since 2011. That year, Dunn was also selected as the Kansas Music Educators Association’s Kansas Music Teacher of the Year. He has devoted more than four decades to the choral music profession, according to the Kansas Choral Directors Association.
Shows start at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 24, 25 and 26 in the school’s auditorium at 1901 Louisiana St. It’s a three-hour show with a 10-minute intermission.
Tickets are $10, and they’re available at the Clinton Parkway Hy-Vee and the LHS financial office. They will be available at the door for cash or checks only.
