There may still be some lingering error messages. If you see those, please don’t worry. Just wait a few seconds and try refreshing. You might need to refresh a couple of times, but these errors will subside with time. We’ve already seen the situation vastly improve throughout the day today.
We want to ensure that all our readers know that nothing will stop us from publishing the news, one way or another.
We wrote a lot more on that subject on Sunday via a temporary website we created to keep publishing over the weekend. In order to avoid confusion, we’re not going to make a separate post here with the update that we shared on Sunday about our temporary site, but just so it’s on the record, we will include it here:

Hello, readers!
The Lawrence Times website went down Friday morning, April 17. Our friends at Wildman Web Solutions helped us diagnose the problem, and they’re hard at work to get us back up and running. We don’t yet have an exact timeline.
In the meantime, we’ve put together this makeshift website to maintain as many of our essential operations and reader services as we can, including our reporting. You can find our latest news, events, job listings and advertisements here.
Here’s what you need to know right now:
Nothing will stop us from publishing the news.
Our resilience knows no bounds. We will find a way to get the word out and continue doing what we’ve done since we launched five years ago. That’s why we’re here.
You can reach this temporary website by visiting LKSTimes.com. (Once our normal website is back online, that URL will get you to the regular webpage instead.)
The best way to make sure you get word when we’re back to our normal site is by signing up for our email newsletters. You can do so at this link or through the form at the bottom of this page.
If you need to reach our team, the best way to contact us is by emailing us at [email protected]. You can also fill out the contact form below or at this link.
Everything published here will be migrated to our normal website as soon as possible once it’s back online. We will also make a consistent effort to archive our articles when they’re published to ensure that if we face any future outages, you can still access our latest work in some form.
In the meantime, we might be able to help you access archived versions of older articles and photos using the Wayback Machine. There’s a form below if you’d like to request our help to find something we’ve published.
How you can help:
We’ve been trying to spread the word via our email newsletters and our social media accounts, but our primary way of reaching people is via our regular website, so this has been difficult. We’re also responding to emails as quickly as we can to let folks know what’s going on. If you hear from other Times readers who are confused about what’s going on, please let them know we’re still here and we’ll be back to normal soon.
We truly need your support now more than ever. Current paid subscribers’ subscriptions will continue to be billed as usual through our secure third-party billing system. If you have any questions about this, please reach out via email at [email protected] and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

This temporary website doesn’t allow us to publish ads in the usual way, but we do have all of our current advertisements posted here. You can check those out on this page.
Most importantly, please keep believing in us. We’ve faced many challenges but we’ve always kept going, and that’s not going to change.

How to find out what’s going on if our website is down
This website outage highlighted how important this page is for us to reach you. We appreciate how many folks noticed that the site was down and reached out to us about it, but it also showed us how important it is to highlight other ways that you can get updates from us.
The best way to ensure we can let you know what’s going on if our website isn’t working is to sign up for our email updates. Even if you don’t want to hear from us every day and you only sign up for our occasional updates, that will still allow us to keep you in the loop if anything goes wrong with the website.

Please make sure you click on the button that says “Yes, subscribe me to this list” in the email you receive or you will not receive future emails. That extra step is to protect you and make sure you’re not getting emails you don’t want.
