Amanda Faunce, current associate principal of Free State High School, will serve as the next lead principal of the Lawrence College and Career Center, according to a district announcement Monday evening.

Faunce has served in her current position since 2022, following four years as the school’s athletic director, according to the announcement. Before that, she taught social science and held administrative positions in Olathe.

“Thank you for teaching me that true success is defined by unwavering support, true teamwork, and laughter,” Faunce said of the FSHS administration. “As I transition to the Lawrence College and Career Center, I am honored to carry this momentum forward, rooted in the idea that every student, every future, every path is connected to a clear postsecondary plan, real-world experience, and meaningful opportunities that will immediately open the door to their futures.”

Superintendent Jeanice Swift said in the announcement that Faunce will “lead a critical district effort as we move forward to realign and invigorate Career/Tech Ed programming at the College and Career Center and across all district campuses to ensure meaningful real-world learning experiences, enhance milestone career credentialing opportunities, programs and partnerships aligned to ensure postsecondary success for all students.”

Faunce’s new role will be effective July 1.

Mark Preut, previously a longtime associate principal at Lawrence High School, was announced as the College and Career Center principal in May 2024. In March, Swift announced Preut as the next lead principal of student support pathways.

Preut will have direct leadership over the Academy program at the College and Career campus, adult education, diploma completion, incarcerated students, credit recovery and attendance, truancy and intervention programs, Swift told school board members.
