Janice Lee Sealock Andregg Pyle, 86, passed away in the arms of family on May 22, 2026, in Lawrence, Kansas. She was born on September 4, 1939 in Sheridan County, Kansas. She was the 4th child of Vern and Florence (Cooper) Sealock, spending all her childhood, youth and school years in Hoxie, Kansas. She married Kyle Andregg, her high school sweetheart, in 1957 and they had 3 children to follow, Debra Lee, Todd Weston and Kyra Lynn.
They moved from the farm in Hoxie to Colby, Kansas where they operated an abstract and title insurance company. Kyle and Jan were both involved in the Kansas Jaycee/Janes program in the late 1960’s to early 1970’s. In 1974, they moved to Lawrence, Kansas where she worked as a bank teller for a short time before being employed by The Banks Company on Mass Street – providing title insurance and abstract work in the real estate market. In the early 1980s, she and Kyle moved to Castle Rock, Colorado becoming active in the Mountain Man rendezvous organization, enjoying many camp outs and gatherings. She was involved in the Eagles/Elks clown program where they visited nursing homes and participated in many parades. In 1993 Kyle and Jan moved back to Hoxie to help care for her mother. They spent time in Arizona managing an RV Park where they attended to Kyle’s aging parents, who then relocated back to Hoxie. After Kyle’s death in 2003, she continued to care for his parents and still did abstract and title work in western Kansas.
As Jan was helping to plan her 50th high school reunion in 2007, she and her grade school boyfriend Jon Pyle reconnected and were married later that year. They lived in Hoxie several years before moving to Lawrence, Kansas, where they enjoyed 19 years together. They were active on various boards of their church both in Hoxie and Lawrence. They summered in Kasilof, Alaska where they owned and operated an RV park there for 15 plus years. They enjoyed this time in Alaska greatly, especially having multitudes of family and friends visit the park throughout the years.
Jan was a caring, joyous, and loving person who had a beautiful radiant smile and an always cheerful demeanor. Upbeat positivity and kindness to others were exhibited in every aspect of her life, work, and play. She was an extremely creative and talented artist, painting still life, portraits, as well as scenery, and provided each grandchild and great grandchildren with yearly Christmas ornaments. A skilled seamstress, she made everything from clothes to curtains and couch cushions. Jan was an avid reader and passed her love of books down to her kids who’ve shared that passion with their children. She had a green thumb and looked forward to spring planting and in later years enjoyed her flowerpots and many houseplants in her home and on the balcony of their assisted living apartment. Her sassy spirit with a small ornery streak stayed with her through the end and was not quieted as she courageously battled melanoma for the last two years of her life. Forever family oriented, she commented throughout the years, “I’m so blessed,” even in tough and harder times. She vigilantly kept ties to her siblings, many cousins and nieces and nephews throughout her entire life.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Phillip, one sister, Shirley, 1 stepson Cary, her first husband Kyle and her second husband Jon.
She is survived by her children, Debbie Post (Paul), Todd Andregg (Karen), and Kyra Stromgren (Craig), Jon’s children, Cody (Lori-Kate) and Christine (Mark),12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren with 2 on the way, a sister, sister in law, cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, and life long friends who will miss her deeply. Her legacy of love, laughter, faith, grace, and deep family connection will live on through the countless memories and stories of those who were “so blessed” by her bright and loving presence in their lives.
The family would like to thank Bridgehaven Memory Care Facility Opa House and Ascend Health Hospice Care for their exceptional care given to Jan during her last year.
Mickey-Leopold in Hoxie, Kansas will oversee her service at the First United Methodist Church in Hoxie, Kansas on Saturday, June 6th at 10:00 A.M. CST. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sheridan County Historical Society, Hoxie Kansas or Ascend Health Hospice Care in Topeka and may be sent in care of Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home P.O Box 987 Hoxie, Kansas 67740.
