Lawrence PRIDE’s annual parade and party are set for Saturday, and they’ll be accompanied by a month of events to celebrate LGBTQ+ pride and resilience.
The annual PRIDE parade will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6 at Seventh and Massachusetts streets in downtown Lawrence.
The route will head south to South Park, where a family-friendly block party open to all ages will begin immediately. The party will include drag performers, vendors and more. The parade and party are free to attend.
“Lawrence PRIDE encourages everyone to come out and show their support for the LGBTQ+ community in Lawrence and beyond,” according to a news release from the nonprofit.

An after party for adults — Lawrence PRIDE After Dark, “the kinky queer rave of your dreams” — will begin around 8 p.m. at the Granada, 1020 Massachusetts St. Attendees should be 18 and older to hit the dance floor, and 21 and older to head to the balcony to “experience one of the most complete dungeons Lawrence has had set up in years,” according to the event page.
The night before the parade will be musicians VCMN’s Wet & Wild Pride Kickoff Party, “A celebration centered on Black and Brown queer brilliance, femme power, trans excellence, and the unstoppable creativity of our LGBTQ+ community,” according to organizers. That’s set for 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, June 5 at Lucia, 1016 Massachusetts St. It’s open to folks ages 18 and up, and it’s $5 to enter.
“We wanted to expand our events not just to celebrate the beauty and resilience of our community, but to build the connections that will sustain us all as we continue working toward a more just future,” Shania Lopez-Cabrera, director of the Lawrence PRIDE board, said in the release. “We need each other now more than ever.”
